The Madison
Public Schools welcomed more than 45 new staff members when the doors
opened for the 2009-2010 school year. There is a new principal at
Kathleen Ryerson Elementary School, a new social studies teacher at
Walter C. Polson Middle School, a new health aide at J. Milton Jeffrey
Elementary School, and other new faces.
Districtwide, new staff includes
Cynthia Twiss, director of special education, and Emelinda Sanacora, a
part-time physical therapist. The school system has brought its special
education programs in-house this year and will operate the Town Campus
Learning Center. New staff at the learning center will be Stephanie
Albino, part-time occupational therapist; Lynn Hada, special education
teacher; Melissa Knowlton, speech language pathologist; Lisa Miceli,
special education teacher; Angela Milone, special education teacher;
and Lynn DeMarco, part-time paraprofessional.
At Daniel Hand High School, new
staff includes Kimberly Dunn, special education teacher; Georgios
Petrakopoulos, library media specialist; Marlene Fitzmaurice, special
education teacher; Debra Gilbert, part-time library media
paraprofessional; Kathleen Colter, part-time paraprofessional; and
Rachel Spinks, part-time paraprofessional.
At Polson School, new staff includes
Anne Guetti, theater arts teacher; Kristen Rossi, English teacher; Ben
Pelletier, social studies teacher; Crystal Spera, English teacher; and
Sara Hardy, Barbara Sanders, and Elizabeth Lord, all part-time
paraprofessionals.
At Dr.
Robert H. Brown School, new staff are Angela Fachini, a world language
teacher, who will share her time with the students at Jeffrey School;
Kathleen Perry, who will teach Spanish here and at Island Avenue
School; and Keri Melino, Caitlin Campbell, and Angela Lacey, all
part-time paraprofessionals.
At Jeffrey School, new staff
includes Mitzi Giacometti, special education teacher; Tina Cunningham,
part-time kindergarten music teacher; Patricia Drake, part-time health
aide; and Jackie Heitchue, Tara Noonan, Kelly Lee, and Denise Dudas,
all part-time paraprofessionals.
At Ryerson School, there is a new principal. She is Kelly Spooner,
who was an elementary school principal in Stonington before being
selected as principal at Ryerson to replace Dr. Paul Sinicrope, who
retired. Other new staff includes Alicia Nuzzo, grade 1 teacher; and
Andrea Creaser, Sharon Bellonio, Jennifer Carone, Kathleen Barbour, and
Jessica Smith, all part-time paraprofessionals.
Island Avenue School will welcome
Kristen Caramanica as a grade 2 teacher and will share Kathleen Perry,
a Spanish teacher, with Brown School. New part-time paraprofessionals
are Jill Meglin, Shelby Head, Julie French, Kimberly Fletcher, Jennifer
McDaniel, and Amy Nairn.
